You asked for it, you got it. This Friday will be the first class of our new classes. With the over whelming response, and our boom in class attendance in our other classes on Monday and Wednesdays. We have listened to our students and have extended our classes to Friday nights. On Fridays at 6pm we will be having No-Gi Grappling MMA. Bring your small MMA gloves. And at 7pm we will be having our Thai Kickboxing Classes. Normally during the summer months when the college students go home, for the summer, our attendance will takes a hit. But Not this year as seen in the Pictures from yesterday.

Training At Black House MMA with Machida, Gracie, Moontasi

One Month from today Jay Speight will be stepping in the cage again in Greenville NC. In preparation for his up coming fight, this week Jay has been in California training with Black House MMA with several top athletes like Lyoto Machida, Rener Gracie, Kevin Casey, Kenny Johnson, James Moontasri, among others. Everyone at the gym is looking forward to seeing what our instructor will be bringing back to Greenville North Carolina.

10 years ago Andrew Smith did a seminar at our academy when he was a Purple Belt and James Speight was a Blue belt. Jay was 11 years old at that time. James and Jay Speight will be in Williamston and Elizabeth City NC this week Sharing Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.

James Speight and Son Jay Speight will be teaching two training sessions with our brother clubs. Monday at 630pm they will be in Williamston NC at Jim Phifer’s academy at Nu Life Fitness 811 East blvd, right next to Roses in Williamston. And Wednesday at 5pm they will be at Donnie Tinsley’s academy at 1249 HWY 17 S. Suite 1 Elizabeth City. Hope everyone can attend.

On these two days classes in Greenville will be handled by George, Jason, Jack, Terrance and Gabe.

Cool Throw Pulled off at a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Tournament

You don’t normally see these types of throws in a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Tournament, especially at a submission only event, and almost never at a higher ranking division.

This is Jay Speight in the absolute division purple belt, at a US Grappling event in Greensboro NC on 1-31-2015. you can see he pulled off a hip toss that left the crowd in surprise.

Taking The First Step in Jiu-Jitsu

Would like to introduce one of our newest and youngest students to our academy.
Justin Woolard is 6 years old and have been training with us for several months now. He is from Washington. And such a joy to train with. When he arrives at our academy my daughter can’t wait to get her uniform on and start training with him.

He recently got his first stripe in Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. And for the people who have seen him at my academy there is only one thing to describe him.

He is “All Boy!!’

He reminds me of my son at this age. Hard to imagine it isn’t it?

I am looking forward to training him for many years to come.
